Editing & Transition
The opening scene I have used is from the movie "Baby Driver"
Firstly, we have a jump cut. Occurs at 0:12. Where it shows tire of a car, then suddenly cuts to the driver's hand holding an mp3 player. This contributes to the construction of meaning of firstly showing the car tire, implicitly stating that it is important for the plot.
Next at 0:18, there are eyeline match cuts. Where the camera shows the driver looking at something. The actor seems to have a serious expression as he is looking at something. It leaves the audience wondering on what it is. We see other characters looking at each other on an eyeline match level,
Next at 0:28, we have an action match. Where it goes from the actress opening the door of one shot, cuts to the next shot of 3 people exiting the car completing the action of coming out of the car. The body language as they exit the car, implying that they are about to do something big.
Up next we have straight cut, which occurs at 0:24, which shows the driver manually turning of the parking brake, then cuts to his feet pressing on the gas peddle. The pacing of the body language of the driver as he is performing the actions contributes to the fact that things will be intense.
In addition, we have cross match cut which occurs at 1:56. The camerawork shows the audience the face of the protagonist, then cuts to the action going on inside the bank. It cuts back and forth from his face to the setting of the bank. It shows the simultaneous action going on in the scene.
In the beginning of the clip, at 0:00, there is a dissolve transition to the establishing shot of the bank.
Moreover, at 1:40 there is a long take of the protagonist vibing to the music playing. This indicates that the personality and the characteristic of the actor is outgoing, building some sort of friendly relationship between the character and the audience.
In 2:28, there are match cuts. This is where the beat of the song matches with the action the actor is performing as he switches gear on the car. The lineup with specific audio cues emphasize the epic, intense, and the entertainment
Ellipsis at 2.41. It shows the car drifting all over the road, then cuts to the actor driving for 2 seconds. It is deemed unnecessary, but is shown for audience enjoyment and entertainment.
There is an insert at 2:51. The scene cuts from the action of the car, to a specific cut of traffic light changing from green, to yellow, to red. It builds up tension as the audience knows that the protagonist is going high speed towards the intersection, however the light indicates they have to stop, which implies some sort of destruction is about to take place.
